As a loss adjuster, Kevin enjoys a reputation for insisting on the highest technical and ethical standards. He has extensive claims handling experience and has been accountable for and overseen teams engaged in all common claim disciplines. He has a particular interest in property, business interruption, subsidence and surveying services.

Relevant Experience

Kevin joined (then) Cunningham Hart & Co in 1979 as a graduate recruit direct from Oxford University and after qualification was first appointed Branch Manager Stockport, Greater Manchester and then opened and developed a new branch in Liverpool. Responsibilities included the effective and efficient handling by adjusters of all claims together with delivery of technical standards and branch profitability. During this period, Kevin developed professional expertise in large and complex claims of all common disciplines with particular interest and expertise in subsidence and carriers liability.

In 1993 Kevin was headhunted to join Ashworth Mairs Group, where he was appointed Main Board Partner and Group Technical Officer. Experience gained included:

In 2005, Kevin led an institutionally driven management buy-out backed by Hermes Private Equity and Royal Bank of Scotland and, upon completion, was appointed Group Managing Director. He determined and agreed the strategic direction of the business and lead development of the business model.

Kevin initiated and oversaw the cultural and governance change required in consequence of the new corporate strategy, identified potential acquisition opportunities and worked with private equity backers and advisors to successfully complete two acquisitions.

Following a restructuring, Kevin was appointed Chief Technical Officer accountable to the main board and shareholders for the technical framework of operational delivery across the business.

Late 2012, Kevin teamed with Simon Burley to form Camford Sutton Associates. He has since completed a variety of (mainly Property) claims related projects, including:

Consultancy

  • Portfolio/Best Practice reviews and process re-engineering
  • Supplier panel reviews and auditing (support to Insurers)
  • Outsourcing and Insourcing projects (with Insurers)
  • Identification of and initial discussions with potential M & A targets

Claims Resolution

  • Advice re: policy application, repudiations/declinatures and complaints
  • Case mediation and resolution (typically large or complex Property or Subsidence), with/for Insurers and involving/between Suppliers
  • Expert Witness - review of files and preparation of informal or CPR compliant reports

Kevin is a Past President of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (2013).
